Turf Runner is a location-based running game: you bring runs you already recorded — a track file your watch or phone exports — and the app turns them into a virtual territory game — turf tiles, turf kings, seasonal leaderboards. It’s a game for fun, free to play today, with no cash prizes. If we ever add optional paid features, they’ll be clearly labeled and you’ll never be charged without your say-so.
Your account
- You sign in with Google — nothing else to connect. Runs reach the game as track files you add yourself: your watch's own export, or Android's share sheet.
- One person, one account — creating fake accounts to gain turf advantages is against the spirit of the game and can get accounts removed.
What you agree to
By using the service you agree to:
- Only run real runs. Manually fabricated routes, bots, or fake activities are prohibited. (Impossible data — a car, a plane — doesn’t count.)
- Not attempt to break, spam, or abuse the service (no automated flooding or scraping beyond normal use, no interfering with other players).
- Be a decent human on the shared map. Turf is competitive, but don’t harass other players.
- Accept the Privacy Policy, which says what we store about you and which two switches control what other players see. The app records which version you accepted.
Your content & game state
- Your runs (however they reach us) become game state: turf claims, scores, king titles, and leaderboard positions.
- Game state is public by default (that’s the game), subject to the privacy controls in the Privacy Policy (Anonymous mode, Private routes).
- Turf tiles and leaderboard history you create become part of the shared world. They persist for the life of the world even if you leave.
Disclaimers
- The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We’re a small project — occasionally things will be quirky or break.
- This is not fitness or medical advice. Running is exercise; you’re responsible for your own safety and health. The app’s turf map doesn’t know about roads, traffic, or private property — follow local rules and common sense when you run.
- Routes shown are approximations from your activity data; we can’t guarantee accuracy.
- The hosting, map, weather and notification services we rely on are third parties: their parts are provided “as is” too, and we’re not responsible for what they do or fail to do.
Termination
- You can stop using the service at any time — profile menu → “Delete my data” removes your account and your game data right away (see the Privacy Policy).
- We may suspend or remove accounts that violate the rules above, or that we believe are fake or abusive, without notice.
Changes
We may update these terms. When a change matters, the app asks you to acknowledge the new version on your next visit — the same card that introduces the privacy choices — and records it. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
